Raising the Standard for Post Frame Structures in the Northwest
About Us
Northwest Structures
Welcome to Northwest Structures, where we turn dreams into sturdy realities. Specializing in pole barns, shops, and Barndominium shells, we bring your vision to life with passion, precision, and integrity. Our builds are more than just materials—they’re a promise of quality, durability, and craftsmanship. At Northwest Structures, we’re not just builders; we’re partners in creating the spaces where your story will unfold.
While many contractors measure success by speed or volume, we choose a different path. Some builders focus only on meeting minimum code or use cheaper materials to cut costs. We’ve learned through experience that doing things the right way is the only way. That’s why we hold ourselves to higher standards, because every detail matters when it comes to protecting your investment.
Over the years, every project we’ve completed has helped us grow. Each build has taught us something new—shaping us into better builders, refining our process, and strengthening our commitment to our customers. With every structure we raise, we carry forward those lessons, ensuring that your building benefits from everything we’ve learned along the way.
At Northwest Structures, we don’t just deliver buildings—we deliver an experience. We infuse fun into functionality and enthusiasm into every beam we set.
With transparent communication, high-quality support, and a genuine commitment to excellence, we ensure that watching your dream take shape is as rewarding as living in it. Because at Northwest Structures, it’s not just a barn, shop, or Barndominium—it’s a masterpiece built with pride, care, and dedication to you.

Northwest's Standard Build
Standards on Every Build We Believe Matter
Laminated Columns
When you choose a 2x6 three-ply laminated column over a rough-sawn post, you’re investing in strength, consistency, and long-term peace of mind. Laminated columns are engineered from multiple pieces of lumber bonded together, which means fewer natural defects, straighter posts, and far less twisting or warping over time. They carry loads more evenly, giving your building a sturdier, more reliable frame.
Rough-sawn posts, while traditional, often have hidden weaknesses from knots or irregular grain. Our laminated option ensures you’re getting the highest quality product, built to last and protect your investment for decades. We recommend it because we truly want your building to stand the test of time—and remain strong and dependable for years to come.

At Northwest Structures, we don’t strive to measure how many buildings we erect—we focus on how well we build each one. Every pole barn, shop, garage, or barndominium is constructed with 29 Gage steel and 26-gauge for our trim, premium framing lumber, and precision installation techniques designed to withstand the Northwest climate, we slow down to ensure every detail is right. Our customers choose us because they want a structure that isn’t just built quickly, but built to last a lifetime.
Quality Over Quantity

OSB Sheeting
Why We Use Plywood or OSB Roof Decking, Not Open Framing
Putting a sheet decking layer—like plywood or OSB—under your metal roof is one of the smartest upgrades you can make. Metal alone doesn’t protect against everything. Without solid decking, heat and moisture can condense under the metal, especially at night, which leads to dripping, corrosion, mildew, and rot. Walking on an open-framed roof also feels bouncy and unsafe because there’s no full surface beneath.
With plywood or OSB installed:
-
There’s less condensation risk, because the decking helps trap and even out moisture and keeps the wood structure dry.
-
The roof becomes structurally stiffer and safer to walk on during installation or for maintenance.
-
It offers a more solid base for the metal; nails/fasteners hold better, and everything lays flat and tight.
-
Long-term, you avoid issues like sagging, leaks, or damaged panels — these often end up costing more down the road.
We care about doing it right. Some builders skip deck sheaehing to save cost, but we believe it’s worth doing it properly — your roof should not just look good on day one, but stay strong and trouble-free for many years.
Educating Our Customers
We believe that a customer who understands the building process makes better decisions. That’s why our website explains the importance of all of these standard processes and materials. Many homeowners start their build not knowing what questions to ask. By teaching you what truly matters in construction, we protect you from costly shortcuts and ensure you know exactly why our standards exceed industry norms.

Steel Back OHD Door
Insulated Steel-Back Garage Doors
At Northwest Structures, we only use insulated steel-back garage doors—our gold standard. Unlike vinyl-back or non-insulated doors, steel-back models are built with heavy-duty construction and rigid insulation. They’re so strong you could practically walk across them. The benefits? Superior durability, better energy efficiency, quieter operation, and a clean finished interior look. A step above standard doors, they’re designed to last and protect your investment.
Side Mount Openers W/WIFI and Battery Backup
Side-Mount Openers with Wi-Fi & Battery Backup
We don’t cut corners with cheap overhead openers. Every building from Northwest Structures includes a premium side-mount opener with smart Wi-Fi control, quiet operation, and a built-in battery backup. Designed to last, these openers give you reliability, convenience, and peace of mind for years to come.
Level Soffit Returns
At Northwest Structures, level soffit returns are standard
-
Level Soffit Returns give a smooth horizontal line at the gable end, allow optional venting, and to help reduce condensation for better durability.
-
Rake Returns extend the fascia into the gable wall for a classic look that adds depth and style.
Both take extra time to install, but the result is worth it—enhanced curb appeal, performance, and lasting quality

Because Cutting Corners Isn’t in Our DNA
Our reputation is built on the details. At Northwest Structures, every building is engineered specifically for its location—because no two sites are the same. While some contractors cut costs by reusing generic engineering plans, we design each structure to handle the exact soil, weather, and environmental conditions of your property. We also recommend options as if we were building a shop for ourselves, ensuring you get solutions we’d trust for our own families and investments. From engineered trusses rated for heavy snow loads to concrete foundation options that extend your building’s life, we refuse to settle for shortcuts or minimum code. The result is a structure that doesn’t just look sharp when it’s new, but one that will remain straight, strong, and dependable for decades to come.

Spray Foam Insulation – Our Standard on Every Build
At Northwest Structures, we don’t cut corners—we raise the standard. That’s why Spray Foam Insulation is included as a standard feature in every single build we complete. We believe in doing things the right way from the start, not just because it performs better, but because we truly care about your comfort, energy savings, and long-term value.
Why Spray Foam?
Unlike traditional batt or blown-in insulation, spray foam forms an airtight seal, filling every gap and crevice. This means:
-
Superior Energy Efficiency – Lower heating and cooling costs with maximum R-value performance.
-
Moisture & Mold Protection – Acts as a barrier against moisture infiltration, reducing the risk of mold.
-
Durability & Longevity – Spray foam doesn’t sag or settle over time, keeping your building insulated for decades.
-
Sound Reduction – Enjoy a quieter interior with noise reduction built right into your walls.
Choosing spray foam isn’t just about insulation—it’s about quality, comfort, and care. While other contractors might offer it as an upgrade, we believe it’s the standard every customer deserves. With us, you’ll get a building that is more efficient, stronger, and built for the future.
Quality That Outlasts Quantity

Quality Graded Trusses
Our higher grade wood trusses are built with premium lumber that exceeds basic industry standards. While other builders may use materials that technically “pass,” we choose straighter, stronger, and more reliable lumber to give your building a longer life and better performance. It’s the difference between a truss that just holds up a roof and one that supports your investment with quality you can trust

Perma Columns
We offer two great foundation options: posts set in concrete footings or Perma-Columns. Both provide strong, lasting support for your building. Posts in concrete are durable and cost-effective, while Perma-Columns take it a step further by keeping wood completely above ground with precast, reinforced concrete. This option is often preferred by banks for financing and by customers who want the absolute longest-lasting solution for their home or barndominium.
Commercial Girt Framing
If finishing the inside of your building is part of your plan, then Commercial Girt—commonly referred to as “bookshelf framing”—is exactly what you need. This advanced framing method doesn’t just add strength; it’s designed with the future in mind. By placing the girts horizontally, your structure is immediately ready for insulation. The insulation neatly fits into the bookshelf-style openings, creating a tighter, more energy-efficient envelope. From there, interior sheeting can be installed directly over the insulation and fastened to the girts—leaving you with straight, solid walls that are ready for a clean, professional finish.
At Northwest Structures, we believe Commercial Girt isn’t just a framing option—it’s the way buildings should be built. It adds durability, improves efficiency, and makes interior finishing faster, easier, and more cost-effective. For anyone planning to insulate or finish out the inside, this method sets the foundation for a building that’s both functional and future-ready.

Synthetic Roof and House Wrap
We protect every building with synthetic roof underlayment and a full moisture barrier wrap. Synthetic paper keeps your roof dry and prevents leaks far better than traditional felt, while moisture wrap shields walls from water and air intrusion. Together, they reduce condensation, improve energy efficiency, and extend the life of your shop. This is our standard on every build.

26 Gage Metal Trim
At Northwest Structures, we use only 26-gauge metal trim on our pole buildings. Thinner trim is prone to sun shrinkage, which can lead to unsightly rippling and “oil canning” over time. By using heavier 26-gauge steel, we ensure straighter lines, long-term durability, and a crisp, professional finish that lasts. It’s one of the details that sets our buildings apart—built for both strength and appearance

It's not about quantity it's more about Quality. At Northwest Structures, we advertise the standards we refuse to compromise on.
That’s why 99% of our buildings are built with commercial girt framing. We don’t believe in cutting corners, and we truly believe this isn’t just a higher-quality option—it’s the way buildings should be built. In fact, we were also the first company in the area to make R-12 steel-backed doors a standard feature on every building. It’s the greatest compliment to see other contractors now following our lead, because it’s a testament to how we’ve raised the bar for quality in our industry.
At Northwest Structures, innovation and integrity go hand in hand. We will always build the best and continue to lead with new standards that others strive to match. Quality is not only one of our core values—it’s the foundation of everything we do.
These aren’t extras. They’re our promise. And they’re why homeowners and businesses across the Northwest continue to choose us again and again.
